Until The End of Rhymes

December 09, 2017

We are excited to say that we worked with Kondwani Fidel on his newest production, Until the End of Rhymes.

After an explosive 2017--releasing his latest book 'Raw Wounds,' traveling to Cuba, gracing the cover of City Paper, being featured in the Baltimore Sun, Washington Post and elsewhere, and being recognized by Golden Globe Award Nominee Ava DuVernay -- Kondwani Fidel continues to evolve. Alongside guitarist Alexander Falu and singer Ebony Hackett, Kondwani Fidel will shared with the world brand new songs and poems during his unplugged performance on December 9th at Arena Players (the oldest continually performing and historically African-American community theatre in Baltimore, Maryland.)

(Various artists from throughout the country had opening performances, with food, drinks, and other vendors.)

"Trap Yoga is a special weekly class held at the studio that mixes Power Yoga with Trap Music.  This form of hip hop is bass heavy with themes ranging from working hard to being your best self.  These classes will challenge you and encourage you to bring levity to a practice that requires you to be tough.  Music choices may change but the intent will be the same: work hard and Evolve Your Self.  This class is great for Intermediate to Advanced Students."

Breaking The Silence #ArtForJustice

October 15, 2016

Breaking the Silence #ArtforJustice was an arts benefit showcase, created as a platform for artists to express themselves about the current events happening around us.  As artists, it’s often a task to express ourselves through words, but our art always gives us that outlet. In the wake of the recent tragedies many of us have been asking “What can we do?” Therefore, what better way is there than to come together and share what we do to “Break the Silence".

BIB Health Initiative Yoga Class

May 15, 2016

The “I AM BLACK BRILLIANCE” mantra was created as representation of the excellence in our Black communities. Brilliance in Black has taken the responsibility to spread only the most positive news of Black people and culture. We are constantly being bombared with stories of death, murder, and continuous negativity by the mainstream media. It is our duty to change the story.  Through social media and our website, it is our hope to continue to remind the world that there is more to black people than what is portrayed and torecreate the media’s picture.  It is our ultimate goal to uplift the black community through the spread of positivity and implementation of events and programs.

To that end, to kick off the BIB positive health initiative, we hosted our first Yoga event featuring Brandon Copeland of Khepera Wellness. The event was held at Malcolm X park (Washington, D.C) and full of other black professionals looking to change the narrative to a positive one!

Vision Board Party

March 04, 2016

"Without vision, there is no sight."

Brilliance in Black, LLC hosted a Vision Board Party for the Black Student Alliance at Garrison Forest School. The vision boards allowed students to think out their goals and plans for themselves, whether short term or long term. By creating the board, they now have a visual to remind them to continue to work hard and strive to obtain each of these goals. The event was full of great conversation, laughter, and fun! We encourage everyone to create a Vision board this year, and be sure to tag us in the pictures!

Thank you Garrison Forest for allowing us to host this event with such a vibrant group of students!

#FeedMoreBeMore

December 29, 2015

Brilliance in Black, LLC fed the city of Baltimore, MD by hosting #FeedMoreBeMore where many supporters came together to make lunch bags for the homeless; sandwiches, snacks, and water.  Each individual who assisted (as well as those who could not stay), also brought at least one item for the bags.  With music and conversation, the team was able to put together over 250 sandwich bags!

Following the preparation of bags, members of the team went out to distribute to the many homeless throughout the city, with the remaining sandwiches being given to My Brother's Keeper, [a shelter that provides lunch daily].

Everyone was extremely grateful, full of energy, and joyous.  Soliciting prayers and pointing the team in the direction of more who may be hungry, there was a spirit of family and friendship that will never be forgotten.
Out of respect of the individual's privacy, no pictures were taken during distribution.

2015 Holiday Giveback

December 23, 2015

This year, Brilliance in Black, LLC set out to spread the holiday spirit by partnering with The Sierra House in East Orange, NJ to give back to the women and children of the shelter for the holiday season! With the help of several supporters, family, and friends in the community, gift bags were provided for fifteen women and five children as well as extra packages and boxes of things donated to the The Sierra House. As a result of the multitude donations and items purchased personally by Brilliance in Black, we were able to provide the women and children with things such as toiletries, clothes, shoes, toys and a monetary of $150 donation for the shelter!

Overall Brilliance in Black donated over $500 in value of items to the Sierra House. All of the women and staff, who were present, were extremely grateful and inspired to learn that there were people in the world who were willing to give without the expectation of something in return.

Once each of the women and children received a gift bag, the present co founders and supporters were asked to talk to the girls about college life, careers, goals and how to reach them. By the end of the night, The Sierra House was so impressed with Brilliance in Black that they requested we return soon to spread more love, inspiration and encouragement to the women of the shelter.

If you ever have any questions and/or are interested in donating, please visit our CONTACT page and send us an email!
